We are enjoying our puppy again and more importantly he is not stressed or anxious and we are living harmoniously again.

Ambrose had taken to loud and sustained howling, beginning at about 1am and finishing at about 3am each night. The sound was so loud and distressing that neighbours suspected us of physically harming the dog, and we were ‘threatened ‘with calls to the RSPCA. With the puppy causing sleepless nights for us and our neighbours we were also threatened with visits by the police.
John, by strictly following your instructions, we were quickly able to begin reshaping the dogs’ behaviour, and we now have a puppy who has integrated successfully into our lives, and into the wider neighborhood. John, thanks for your invaluable advice. It has meant the world of difference.
My dog Leo used to be very uncontrollable was crazy and I could not even walk him! He would pull and jump and bite, but after a few lessons with John Vella from Canine Wise, he has become a changed dog! He is much nicer to walk, doesn’t bite us anymore and is calmer when he is around us! With more practice and more patience, he will soon become a great dog!

Thanks so much for your help with Wags, our 8 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy. We thought his breed would be so easy and eager to please and that he would just figure out what we wanted him to do... we were wrong!
We have a much calmer, happier household now that you have taught us so many things.
I guess the main thing I would like to say about Canine Wise training is that it is SO much more than teaching you how to train your dog to do the classic sit, stay, and come commands. If any dog owner would like to figure out how to make their dog a truly functional, happy member of the family, they should have John Vella from canine Wise over to help them figure it out and it will make everyone’s life much easier if it is early on in your relationship with your dog!
Our two girls were always barking crazily when we went to the dog park or on seeing other dogs on walks and also they pulled like sled dogs. I refused to take them to the dog park and only walked them sometimes when I was sure no one would be walking there dogs.
I am happy to report that I just got back from our first outing on our own to the dog park and the girls did VERY well.
We did the whole routine of calming them down.
Meeka did bark a little but nothing like before then calmed down and I felt so much better than I used to... on the walks, they're both behaving well - Meeka still gets excited when she sees other dogs approaching, but the difference is that I've learned how to handle her better, it’s amazing!!!
So, all in all, we're going really well and thank you so much for your help...

We just wanted to say a big thank you for all your help with our two dogs. Our 7-year-old Staffy, Duke, was always a lovely placid dog but in recent times had become aggressive after being dominated by another dog. This was not helped when we bought home a new puppy. After just three sessions with John, Duke’s whole personality changed. He learned that Rocky, our puppy was here to stay and quickly learnt how to accept and has also become a happier more content dog. The two now play together daily and enjoy each other’s company. This would never have happened without all your help!!

John provided great service to me and my family in sorting out some behavioural issues with Poppy, our blue roan cocker spaniel. He shared great strategies with us about teaching Poppy to walk on the lead without pulling, to refrain from jumping up on guests and to come when called. He also gave great advice about Poppy's diet and when to feed her, which immediately had a positive effect on her behaviour. John's approach was methodical and gentle - with both us and Poppy! - which is just what we wanted. We can't recommend him highly enough.
Our 4 year old mini foxie had bitten two of our friends, so we decided to get advice from our vet. Our Vet said that it was unacceptable for dogs to behave in such a manner and if it was his decision he would put her down.
A lady in the waiting room saw us with the leaflet and told my husband that she had used Canine Wise and they were fantastic. She said she had used John Vella and told us to specifically request his help when booking our appointment.
After only 3 lessons over a couple of months we now have a happy and confident dog that is like a new girl! She now walks on her lead without pulling; she doesn't growl or snap at strangers and walks straight past cats!

I could not let Scooby off leash at the park due to him being very aggressive around men and would attack them.
I am pleased to advise after following your training program, Scooby is now off the leash in the park, He does not chase or bark at anybody. He comes back to me when called. This has all only happened in the last 3 weeks.

Thank you for your helpful 3-week puppy training course at which Bella (the boxer) and I attended. I picked up many useful tips towards her continuing training program at home. I am finding that she is responding well to all the basic commands using the techniques that you demonstrated during the course.
I would have no hesitation in recommending you to any dog owner seeking assistance with training and behavioural issues.
We have two dogs, one year old Zip, and 5 months old Bo. Once Zip was toilet trained he had access to all areas of the house. Having just Zip at the time, we experienced no issues, and everything was great. Then we got Bo at 3 months old, and everything changed. They started running amok round the house, they were constantly fighting, and Bo was toileting wherever he wanted to. We struggled to disciple, control and to provide boundaries for our dogs. The dogs were out of control, and our home environment became very stressful. We had no idea what to do.
Through three sessions at our home with John, everything changed, for the better. We followed through with all John’s recommendations and within a few days the changes in our dogs behaviour were remarkable. We continue to reinforce the training we received, and our dogs are now much calmer, obedient and recognise who is in charge. The training was very straight forward and easily becoming part of our daily routine.
I would not hesitate to contact John in the future should any further behavioural issues arise.

Layla was a very anxious dog who barked and paced continually when left on her own, she would not play with her Kong’s or eat anything. All this is gradually reversing and at 3 weeks into training her barking has gone from an average of 90% continual barking to around 20% of intermittent barking. We will continue the advice to improve this further.
Layla is a much more relaxed dog now; she walks better on lead and is happy to spend time away from us in different rooms or outside in the garden. She looks forward to her breakfast in her Kong’s and her toys that are given to her just before leaving the house. Layla has also not barked when I have left her in the car for 15 minutes, this has never happened before for longer than a few seconds.

Rollo (the rascal), our American Staffy came to us at 7 months old as a rescue with almost no prior training. While my partner and I attempted to train him, we lacked the correct knowledge on how to do so and he would hardly listen to us when we issued a command, especially if people and other dogs were around. He was impulsive and strong (30kg) and when he ran out into on-coming traffic (luckily only resulting in a few minor scrapes) it was time for us to act.
We contacted John at Canine Wise Training and worked out a training schedule. John came to our home and showed us how to affect change in Rollo’s behaviour. He gave us the tools to communicate and work with Rollo instead of every interaction becoming a battle against him.
John trained both us and Rollo in behavioural and obedience basics, slowly building up to where we are today. With Johns’ assistance, we now have a very different dog. He is calmer, he listens and as a result, the whole family is happier for it.
We still have a way to go, but with the skills and knowledge that John has conveyed we have the ability to continue our work with Rollo.
Ringo has slowly but surely gained confidence and is now a lot more independent than he was when he first arrived. He walks beautifully on his lead, sits, and stays on command and will wait patiently until we have finished our meals before he has his food. He also walks into his dog pen voluntarily, without a lead but must say he is immensely happy to see us when we come home!
We were of course very concerned at first about letting him off his lead, but can now happily report that we take him to Bayview doggy park where he runs freely, playing happily with the other dogs and returns easily to us on command. In fact, he never lets us out of his sight and even when playing is always watching that we are there.
John, we have to say Ringo is an absolute joy and your advice and help at an early stage of his development with us has proved invaluable.

A short email to thank you for your helpful 3-week puppy training course at which Bella (the boxer) and I attended recently.
